Backed by Research

How Housing Matters provides access to rigorous research and practical information on how a quality, stable, affordable home in a vibrant community contributes to individual and community success.

Effective solutions are built on strong evidence. Since 2008, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation has invested $25 million in grants to support 42 research projects exploring how access to quality, affordable housing can strengthen families and revitalize communities. How Housing Matters, an online resource operated by the ULI Terwilliger Center for Housing, provides a vehicle for disseminating the results of this research, as well as additional studies funded by others.

By distilling a vast array of research on how individuals and communities are affected by their homes and neighborhoods, How Housing Matters provides tools to strengthen policy and practice. Get the facts.
