Bathroom

OVERVIEW

Bathrooms are relatively easy to design for use by many people of varying ages. By adding bars, repositioning the toilet, or removing a base cabinet for better all-around access, you can easily customize a bathroom at a reasonable cost.

UNIVERSAL DESIGN FOR BATHROOM

A good rule of thumb for these smaller spaces is a wider door such as a 32-inch clear opening. Out-swing doors maximize interior maneuvering space.

A corner-located toilet provides ample maneuvering space as well as two wall locations for grab bars as needed.

A dual-level vanity allows people of different heights to each use sinks comfortably including seated people at the lower vanity.

A curbless shower with wall blocking and seating is accessible by all and gives the homeowner the ability to add support bars later as needed.
